Congregation Beth Judea, along with Solomon Schechter Day School in Northbrook, Illinois (3210 Dundee Road) present Jewish University for a Day to be held on January 26, 2014, from 11:00a.m. - 4:45 p.m. This day presents a celebration of adult Jewish learning featuring interactive sessions with outstanding visiting and local Jewish Studies scholar/teachers.
This stimulating afternoon will feature visiting scholars: Dr. Eitan Fishbane, Associate Professor of Jewish Thought at JTS; Dr. Stephen Garfinkel, Associate Provost and Assistant Professor of Bible at JTS; Dr. Alyssa Gray, the Emily S. and Rabbi Bernard H. Mehlman Chair in Rabbinics at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion; Dr. David Roskies, the Sol and Evelyn Henkind Chair in Yiddish Literature and Culture and Professor of Jewish Literature at JTS. Local scholars: Dr. David Shyovitz, Assistant Professor of History at Northwestern University and, Claire Sufrin, Lecturer of Religious Studies at Northwestern University. The cost of admission is $50 General, $35 35 and under, and Senior (62+) $35.
