Man Accused Of 4 Counts Of Domestic Battery; Fake $100: Blotter

A Round Lake man is accused of four counts of domestic battery, including bodily harm; fake $100 bill used twice: Buffalo Grove Blotter.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

ARRESTS

DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL

  • James Richard Skulemowski, 49, of Bettendorf, Iowa, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol content level over .08, operating a vehicle with an expired registration, and was arrested at 8:01 p.m. Aug. 29 at McHenry Road and Devlin. An employee of Jewel-Osco had called police to report a man, believed to be intoxicated, had been in the store, was stumbling in the store, and had got into a vehicle. Police located Skulemowski driving the vehicle near the intersection of Buffalo Grove Road prior to pulling him over. He was assigned a court date of Oct. 16.
  • Vincent Peter Masse, 38, of the 900 block of Port Clinton Court West, Buffalo Grove, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal lane usage, operating an uninsured vehicle, and was arrested at 1:47 p.m. Sept. 2 at Half Day and Prairie roads. His bond was set at $3,000, and he was assigned a court date of Sept. 16.

DRIVER'S LICENSE REVOKED/SUSPENDED

  • Jonathan Aldair Teran Torres, 20, of the 700 block of Donnat Court, Wheeling, is accused of driving with a revoked/suspended driver's license, speeding over the statutory limit (47 mph in a 35 mph zone), operating an uninsured vehicle, improper use of registration or title, and was arrested at 11:47 p.m. Aug. 30 at Dundee and Willow in Wheeling. His bond was set at $2,500, and he was assigned a court date of Oct. 16.
  • Tomas Dorado, 46, of the 300 block of s Van Buren Street, Batavia, is accused of driving on a suspended/revoked license on more than two occasions, issuance of a warrant for bond forfeiture for a driving while intoxicated charge out of Kane County, electronic communication device, obstructed windshield, and was arrested at 8:29 p.m. Aug. 31 at Aldi in Buffalo Grove. He was due in court Sept. 1 in Rolling Meadows.

DOMESTIC BATTERY/BODILY HARM

Justin Drew Cooper, 34, of Round Lake, is accused two counts of domestic battery/bodily harm, two counts of domestic battery, and was arrested at 11:49 p.m. Aug. 28 at Advocate Condell Hospital, Libertyville.

INCIDENTS

SUSPICIOUS AUTOMOBILE

A resident of Bristol Lane reported at 6:32 p.m. Sept. 1 that a suspicious vehicle was parked in the visitor parking near their house. The resident state that they had seen the car parked there several times over the last few weeks. They had followed the car to the Shell Station on Arlington Heights Road and saw the driver doing drug deals. The resident said they had approached the driver that night to tell them to leave the area. They said they saw two blunts on the driver's lap and more cannabis on the floor board. While talking to the resident, police saw the driver drive by at a high rate of speed, well over 75 miles per hour, in a vehicle with an extremely loud muffler. Police have reached out to the driver.

FORGERY

An employee of Tomatillo, 1267 W Dundee Road, called police at 4:29 p.m. Aug. 31 to report an unknown person paid for a chicken burrito with a fake $100 bill. The employee returned the customer change. They used a counterfeit detection pen after the customer left which showed the bill was fake. The customer was described as a black male in his mid 20s, with black curly hair, wearing a white T-shirt and dark shorts, spoke Spanish with dialect that sounded Puerto Rican, according to the employee. Police noted the description matches with a person described in a similar incident earlier in the day at Noodles and Company earlier in the day in the same strip mall area.

THEFT OVER $500

An employee of the Buffalo Grove Park District reported at 12:19 p.m. Sept. 1 reported at 12:19 p.m. Sept. 1 that an unknown person took four large plant pots from the front of the building. A video of the incident showed the person load the pots in the rear of a black pick-up truck.

SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT/CIRCUMSTANCES

A resident in the 1400 block of Camden Court called police at 10:50 p.m. Sept. 1 to report that earlier that day a white male, between the ages of 40-45, with short hair, wearing a gray T-shirt with a blue logo, with a small dog on a red leash, came to their backyard and looked into their vegetable garden and inside their residence through the back window. The resident's juvenile child said the man left and came back four times in a short period and was looking for the child.
