Man Steals Booze From Woodman's Twice: Buffalo Grove Police Blotter

The thief was seen stealing alcohol bottles, valued at $80 each, from the grocery store on multiple occasions.

BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED/REVOKED LICENSE

  • Denira Dominique Carter, 22, of the 6500 block of S. King Drive, Chicago, is accused of driving on a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, speeding 15-20 mph over the speed limit, and was arrested at 11:45 a.m. May 17, at E. Half Day Road and Waterbury Lane. She was released after posting a $2,500 bond and was assigned a court date of June 9.
  • Jessie Santiago, 21, of the 3000 block of 15th Place, North Chicago, is accused of speeding, operating a vehicle with expired registration, driving a vehicle with no registration, driving on a suspended license, and was arrested at 7:17 p.m. May 21, at Lake Cook Road and Hastings Drive. He was released after posting bond.

RESISTING A PEACE OFFICER

Joshua R. Lopez, 30, of the 2100 block of Ash Street, Des Plaines, is accused of driving on a suspended license, two counts of resisting a peace officer, and was arrested at 1:32 a.m. May 20, in the 50 block of Lake Boulevard. A court date of July 5 was assigned.

INCIDENTS

PUBLIC COMPLAINT FIRE/EXPLOSION

Police were called to Buffalo Grove High School, 1100 W. Dundee Road, at 7:47 p.m. May 16, for an activated fire alarm. School staff found the alarm was in a TV studio room, which houses batteries and film equipment. Police responded to the room and confirmed there was an active fire. The Buffalo Grove Fire Department and other surrounding agencies arrived at the scene. Several fire extinguishers were used to put out the fire and the building was vented. CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

Police responded to the 300 block of W. Dundee Road at 3:08 p.m. May 17, for criminal damage to property report. Police met with the complainant, who said that someone had gained entry into the business by prying a door and damaging it.

RETAIL THEFT

  • A manager at Woodman's Grocery, 1550 E. Deerfield Parkway, called police at 4:55 p.m. May 17, to report someone stole alcohol from the store and on a previous occasion. The manager said the man had entered the store and concealed a box of alcohol in his jacket. He then paid cash for two cans of beer and exited the store without paying for what was in the box. They then discovered that the same man had stolen another bottle of the same alcohol on a different occasion. Each bottle costs $79.99, which brings the net loss to $159.98.
  • A manager at Jewel, 79 McHenry Road, reported on May 20 that two days earlier, a male removed a bag that had been concealed under his shirt and placed assorted merchandise into the bag. The man left the store without paying for the items. The total value of the stolen items is $447.66.
