BUFFALO GROVE, IL — The following information comes from the Buffalo Grove Police Department (except when noted) and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

BURGLARY FROM MOTOR VEHICLE

  • A resident in the 1200 block of Churchill Court reported at 2:56 p.m. Dec. 28 that when he went to his work truck, he noticed the back door slightly ajar. He entered the truck and noticed multiple items, totaling $15,000, were removed from the truck.
  • A resident in the 300 block of Butternut Drive called police at 3:28 p.m. Jan. 6 to report their unlocked vehicle was entered during the overnight hours. Someone went through the vehicles center console and a box of surgical masks were stolen. Loose change was not taken. Several electronic charger cords were also left behind.

CUSTOMER/MANAGER DISPUTE

A customer at Jewel-Osco, 79 McHenry Road, called police at 11:57 a.m. Dec. 30 to report an employee was being aggressive with him after a disagreement about a cut of meat. He claims the employee was shouting profanities at him from the meat counter. He said he attempted to walk out before being threatened by the employee. The employee claims the customer threw a cut of meat he was not satisfied with at the butcher and then flipped the staff off. Later, while the employees were having a cigarette break, the customer returned and threatened them, according to the employee. A store manager said the customer was never asked to leave or kicked out. There was no physical contact between the parties.

SUSPICIOUS AUTOMOBILE

A resident in the 200 block of Mohawk Trail reported at 8:54 a.m. Dec. 29 that they observed a car in the next door driveway and two people enter the back patio doors. She said one person left in the car, but one was still in the house. While police attempted to make contact with the person inside the home, the new homeowner arrived. They said they had just purchased the home and were fixing it up prior to moving in.

RETAIL THEFT

A manager at CVS, 20 E Dundee Road, called police at 7:21 p.m. Jan. 5 to report two males had entered the store with a duffel bag, stuffed it with an unknown quantity of products, and left the store without paying for them. They left the business on foot and were headed northbound through the shopping plaza.

INFORMATION FOR POLICE

A manager at Senior Well, 2100 E Lake Cook Road, reported at 7:42 p.m. Jan. 7 that four vehicles were missing from the company inventory. The vehicles were rented from Enterprise and issued to former employees in their home states of Indiana, Missouri and Pennsylvania. When the employees were terminated from their positions, the manager said they had been asked to return the cars to the Enterprise in their state, but that never happened. The manager had called each employee, and they claimed to have returned the cars.

IDENTITY THEFT

Officers took a total of 26 telephone reports from residents between Dec. 28, 2020-Jan. 7, 2021 for identity theft. Complainants reported that they were notified by either their employer’s human resource department or the Illinois Department of Employment Security regarding the use of their information for the filing of unemployment benefits which they did not file for.
