Robert Coffin Parker is more than a road in Long Grove. He’s a former architect who served as Long Grove’s village president for more than 20 years, and on Wednesday he will return for a public reception.
Mara Sabath, co-owner of The Peppermint Stick, said customers regularly ask her how Robert Parker Coffin Road got its name. She said she recently tracked Coffin down through a mutual acquaintance.
She's treating him to lunch on Wednesday, and she invites the community to stop by to meet her guest, who is in his 90s.

Robert Parker Coffin will be at the restaurant, 410 Robert Parker Coffin Road, Long Grove, from about noon to 1 p.m.
