The soaring popularity of book clubs has turned enjoying a good book from a solitary activity into a social one. The Vernon Area Public Library will take this phenomenon to the next level when it hosts a unique, after-hours program, “Book Club Bash,” on Friday, June 28, from 7-9 p.m.
Avid readers and book club members from the area will enjoy the recently renovated library, while they exchange reading recommendations and become inspired from a range of book authorities, including:
• Book Blogger Lauren Margolin will explore how to host creative and memorable book club meetings, as well as improve the quality of discussions.
• Random House representatives will share quick-fire descriptions of adult and young adult (YA) titles ideal for book club discussions.
• Librarians from the Vernon Area Public Library will demonstrate the many library resources available to help book clubs thrive.
In addition to the book club tips, participants will enjoy refreshments and prizes, provided by the library and Random House publishers.
Because the program is after library hours, registration is required for this program. This event is free and open to all. Register online at http://bit.ly/BookClubBash, phone at 224-543-1485, or in person at any public service desk in the library.
