Rolling Meadows and Prospect Culinary Arts Students Finish Strong at the Illinois ProStart Invitational
The ProStart/Culinary Arts students at Rolling Meadows High School finished strong at the Illinois ProStart Invitational held at Chicago’s Kendall College. It was the first time RMHS ProStart students competed at this event. The Management Team, comprised of RMHS senior Julie Nerwin and juniors Lindsay Hill, Katie OHara and Michael Kramer placed 4th in the competition. The Culinary Team, comprised of RMHS junior Ema Kolb and seniors Caroline Schliep, Deby Munoz, and Prospect High School Ruben Rodriguez took 2nd in state. Mentored by Chris Rybicki, executive chef at Chatterbox of Long Grove, the team received new knife kits, along with a tub full of other kitchen tools and accessories. The Culinary Team also received scholarship offers worth more than $40,000 from the country’s top culinary schools. The O’Hara Family Chiropractic in Arlington Heights, Rich Food Products in Harwood Heights, and Cumberland Bakers in Des Plaines sponsored both teams.
