Vernon Hills, IL –State Representative Carol Sente, D-Vernon Hills, provided an update on drug-related public safety legislation at the Lake County Sheriff’s Community Drug Awareness Forum on Wednesday night.
“We need to remain vigilant in the fight to keep drugs out of our neighborhoods and continue to address crime-related problems,” Sente said. “We must also ensure that resources and support mechanisms are readily available to help schools, families, and victims recovering from addictions and drug-related violence, many of whom are young adults or teenagers.”
Sente regularly advocates for public safety related legislation in Springfield and meets semi-annually with her local police chiefs to maintain a dialogue on the needs of local and state law enforcement. Sente has also supported legislation to curb the distribution of synthetic drugs, establish a Young Adults Heroin Use Task Force, and reduce the production of methamphetamines by making it more challenging for criminals to obtain the necessary ingredients.
