Lake County, IL – Senate Bill 2696 was introduced by Senator Terry Link on January 28th, 2014 which will dissolve the Fox Waterway Agency and put it under the authority of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. "I wish somebody would inform Senator Link that the Fox Waterway is not in his District,” said Don Wilson, who is running against Mr. Link for the 30th District State Senate seat, at a recent Rotary meeting.
He added the IDNR’s stance is that they are not set up to manage the area like the Fox Waterway Agency currently does. The elimination of an entity that receives most of it's funding from user fees makes no sense. The Fox Waterway is one of our nation’s most economically viable bodies of water and dissolving the agency would impact the ecology, safety and economy of the Fox River and Chain O' Lakes area.
Don Wilson finished by saying, "As a boater, I disagree with the legislation… as a voter, I wish Terry Link would focus on Jobs."
Don is a lifelong resident of Lake County and the 30th District. Residing in Gurnee, he is married and a father of two daughters. His life experiences have taken him from living in government assisted housing to becoming a radio personality and a successful small business owner. He is currently a Trustee with the Village of Gurnee.
