Fuel Finder: Gas Station Cards Save Money at the Pump

As gas prices approach $4 per gallon nationally and locally, neighborhood gas stations are offering discounts that will knock off up to 10 cents per gallon of gas.

Speedway on Kingery Highway and 91st Street is offering 5 cents off per gallon of gas when customers use their Speedway card. Similarly, Shell is offering a 10-cent discount when drivers make purchases with their Shell card. Different rules and restrictions apply depending on the store. Choose your station wisely to get the deepest discounts.

This week, AAA reported that the average price for a gallon of gas in the Burr Ridge, Downers Grove and Hinsdale area is $3.75. Our survey of five local stations showed an average of $3.76. The national average remains steady from last week at $3.56, according to the U.S. Energy Information Association.
