New Lingerie Store Comes to Village Center

Soma Intimates will soon be coming to the Burr Ridge Village Center.

The women’s lingerie store is opening a branch at 585 Village Center Drive on May 18. During the grand opening, shoppers will get the chance to browse the store’s collection of lingerie, sleepwear, active wear, fragrances and body lotions.

Soma, a division of Chico’s clothier, will be the third Chico’s store to come to the Village Center — after Chico’s itself and White House Black Market.

“It shows that the first two stores have done well. They wanted to bring them to Burr Ridge and … expand their growth,” said Scott Rolston, general manager of the Burr Ridge Village Center.

There are currently more than 140 Soma stories throughout the country, according to a press release.

“We’re excited about [Soma] opening,” said Dawn Leo, assistant manager of Chico’s in Burr Ridge.

What sets Soma apart from other lingerie stores is that its employees are trained to do fittings for customers. What also sets them apart is the store's philanthropic work. Soma supports women’s shelters throughout the United States with a semi-annual bra drive. So far, more than 60,000 bras have been collected, according to a press release. 

Representatives from Soma were not immediately available for comment by time of publication.
