1 Dead After Vehicle Found Submerged Upside Down In Creek: Authorities
Rescue swimmers removed the sole occupant, who was pronounced dead at a hospital, authorities said.
MORRIS, IL — A man has died after being recovered from a car that was submerged upside down in a creek in Morris, according to authorities.
Emergency personnel responded around 11:30 p.m. Saturday to Ottawa Bend Drive at the West Branch of Nettle Creek, where they found the vehicle in the water behind the office of Gebhard Woods State Park, police said.
The car, driven by 21-year-old Sean Michael Rentauskas of Coal City, had been moving east on Old Stage Road when approaching the curve at the entrance of Gebhart Woods, according to the Grundy County Coroner's Office.

"For unknown reason, Mr. Rentauskas failed to negotiate the curve and veered off the roadway eventually into the Nettle Creek," a news release from the coroner's office said.
Rescue swimmers removed the sole occupant of the vehicle, according to police, and Rentauskas was transported to Morris Hospital, where he was pronounced dead early Sunday morning.
