Channahon Police Dog Hutch Comes Through In Clutch
Channahon's Police Department obtained the German Shepherd dog last November.

CHANNAHON, IL - The only member of the Channahon Police Department who works for treats and lots of pets played a large role over the weekend in an arrest. Deputy Chief of Police Adam Bogart said the Channahon Police Department's police dog, Hutch, was summoned around 3 a.m. Sunday morning to assist the Illinois State Police who were out investigating an apparent a single vehicle crash along Interstate 80. The incident occurred around mile marker 117, near one of the rest stops. But the driver was gone.
During the middle of the night, Hutch was brought to the scene, and the department's German Shepherd put its sense of smell to the test. About a half-mile from the scene of the crash, Hutch found the suspect hiding inside a bunch of shrubs and bushes, Bogart said. The Illinois State Police took the man into custody and charges are pending at this time.
