Minooka Stabbing At Shady Oaks, 'Sometimes People Need To Be Held In Jail': Sheriff Briley
Since October, the Grundy County Sheriff's deputies said they were called to this residence seven times for domestic-related circumstances.

MINOOKA, IL — Grundy County Sheriff Ken Briley and his agency posted a wild Facebook news bulletin on Sunday morning declaring that the SAFE-T-Act and the pretrial release conditions are failing after seven police calls to the same two people since October. On Saturday night, sheriff's deputies and Minooka police responded to a stabbing at the Shady Oaks trailer park where 45-year-old Mark Berrospe suffered multiple stab wounds and Kelsey Venecia, 38, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Berrospe suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being taken to a local hospital, the sheriff said, while Venecia was taken to the Grundy County Jail in Morris.

When deputies knocked on the door and no one answered, deputies relocated to the entrance of Shady Oaks trailer park and a short time later saw Mark leaving in his car. Deputies made contact with Mark, and he told them Kelsey showed up at his residence intoxicated. Grundy County indicated that Mark did not answer the door when deputies knocked because he did not want to get in trouble for violating pre-trial release conditions.
That time, the sheriff's office said, Mark agreed to return to his residence. Mark appeared very frantic when asked if Kelsey was inside. Mark told deputies that Kelsey was hiding inside the bathroom. Deputies made contact with Kelsey in the bathroom. Kelsey was removed from the residence, and a report was sent to the state's attorney for violations of pre-trial release conditions.
"Here is yet another example of the Safe T Act and pre-trial release conditions failing," Grundy County Sheriff's declared on Sunday morning. "Seven times since October, we’ve been called to this same house for domestic violence only to find violation after violation of pre-trial release orders. Now we have a stabbing victim. Sometimes people need to be held in jail."
