The boys, ranging in age from 15 to 17, face multiple felony charges stemming from Wednesday's accident that left 4 women injured.

CHICAGO, IL — Four teenage boys face multiple felony charges after allegedly committing an armed robbery, then leading police in a chase with a stolen SUV that ended in a collision with a CTA bus Wednesday in the Fuller Park neighborhood.

The teens — a 17-year-old, two 16-year-olds and a 15-year-old — were each charged with five counts of felony robbery with a firearm, as well as single counts each of felony unlawful use of a weapon, felony attempted vehicular hijacking and misdemeanor criminal trespass to a vehicle, according to police.

The 17-year-old also was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.

The teens are accused of driving a tan SUV and pulling up next to a 20-year-old man at about 8:29 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, who was walking in the 4000 block of South Langley Avenue, police said. Two of the teens allegedly jumped out of the car, flashed a revolver and demanded the victim's property. The victim complied, and the teens then fled in the SUV, which had been reported stolen from Matteson.

Police caught up with the teens in the SUV as they were driving southbound on Martin Luther King Drive. That's when the SUV's driver gunned the vehicle to try to escape the pursuing officers.

The vehicle crashed into a CTA bus at 43rd and LaSalle streets, but the teens continued to flee, this time on foot, according to police. They were eventually apprehended after a brief chase, and officers recovered a weapon from inside the stolen SUV. A search of the 17-year-old also uncovered prescription drugs that didn't belong to him.

The accident injured four women who were on the bus, police said. The women — two 58-year-olds, a 59-year-old and a 62-year-old — were taken to nearby hospitals in stable condition, and their injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to police.

The teens — who were identified as the suspects in the South Langley Avenue armed robbery — also were implicated in four other armed robberies Wednesday. Police did not release details concerning those incidents.
