Celebrate Paczki Day Tues., Feb. 21 at Delightful Pastries

Every year, Chicago goes wild celebrating Fat Tuesday and one of its most coveted, time-honored traditions, Paczki Day. Paczki is a Polish doughnut-like pastry and no one makes them better than Delightful Pastries, who are proud to be a paczki-making icon in the community.

This year, Paczki Day / Fat Tuesday is February 21. Chicago’s top paczki maker, Chef Dobra Bielinski of Delightful Pastries in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of Chicago.

The acclaimed Delightful Pastries (5927 W Lawrence Ave, Chicago, IL 60630; 773-545-7215), celebrating its 25th anniversary, keeps its bakery stocked with its tasty paczki year-round. But the annual Paczki Day is something very special.

While walk-in orders are available, Delightful Pastries owner Dobra Bielinski recommends ordering in advance. The minimum order is a dozen and orders must be made by February 17. Delightful Pastries, normally closed on Sundays, will be open on Sunday, February 19 to accommodate orders.

“We encourage everyone to call and order in advance to minimize long waits. We will have social distancing precautions, and for those who have pre-ordered, curbside pickup is available by calling 773-545-7215 when you arrive.”

Delightful Pastries has amazing flavors to please all tastes, ranging from traditional flavors such as Custard Topped with Chocolate Fudge, Apricot Jelly, Raspberry Jelly, Rose Pedal Jelly, and Plum Butter. If you’re more adventurous, try gourmet flavors such as Fresh Strawberry and Whipped Cream; Fresh Strawberry; Passion Fruit Jelly, and German Chocolate with pecans and coconut custard topping.

New this year will be Dulce de Leche!

Delightful Pastries’ signature Drunken Paczki has helped make their name famous, with three booze-filled options: Vodka & Vanilla Bean Custard, Jameson Whiskey with Chocolate Custard, and Moonshine & Lemon.
