Chicago Police Fatally Shoot Man Who Shot Two People on West Side
Preliminary police statement said officers saw man shooting at other victims when they exchanged gunfire, killing the shooter.

CHICAGO, IL -- For the third time in a week, Chicago police fatally shot a man in an exchange of gunfire early Friday morning in the city’s West Side.
According to a preliminary statement by the Chicago Police Department, officers were on patrol around 12:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Central Park Avenue when they witnessed the man shooting at people.
Police said a male offender shot two people, one fatally. Officers immediately intervened and engaged the offender, exchanging gunfire. The offender suffered fatal wounds and was pronounced dead at scene.

The injured victim was taken to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm. Police said no officers were injured. A weapon was recovered from the scene.

A comprehensive use of force investigation is underway. CPD is cooperating. Police officers involved in the shooting will be placed on routine administrative duties for 30 days.
