The city's top cop was part of the chase and apprehension of 3 carjacking suspects Friday night.

CHICAGO, IL — Three carjacking suspects caught the attention of Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson who helped chase and apprehend the individuals Friday night on the West Side, according to the Chicago Tribune.

At around 9:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, Johnson and several other officers saw a Lexus sedan that had been reported carjacked in Cicero speed through the Austin District as the superintendent was on his way to a media briefing, the report stated. Johnson joined the brief car chase, which ended when the allegedly stolen vehicle crashed at Quincy Street and Laramie Avenue, the report added.

The driver of the Lexus then fled on foot, but he was caught and taken into custody, according to the report. Two passengers in the Lexus — a man and woman — also were arrested, the report added.
