With the start of a new school year around the corner, CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) is partnering with the City of Chicago in opening COVID-19 vaccination clinics for families, including those with children under five. Clinics will be located in Chicago city colleges.

Per CDC guidelines, the vaccine is now available for children 6 months and older. CORE is hosting vaccination clinics and sites across the Chicago area through early September, to increase vaccinations among previously ineligible groups.

As of July 20, 6.4 percent of children under the age of five in Chicago have received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine since it was recommended by the CDC last month, according to the Chicago Department of Public Health. CORE hopes to raise vaccination rates of young children and continue to encourage vaccination within other populations, particularly the most vulnerable groups.
