COVID-19 Cancels Rest Of Goodman's Run Of 'A Christmas Carol'
Goodman Theatre's in-person "A Christmas Carol" shows have been cancelled for the rest of run. Refunds, streamed performance offered.

CHICAGO — In-person performances of a “A Christmas Carol” have been scrapped for the rest of its run at the Goodman Theatre. The holiday favorite was scheduled to run through Dec. 31.
“After learning of a COVID-19 exposure in our production company, it was necessary to suspend performances to allow time for testing/isolation protocols. The safety of our audiences, artists and staff remains our top priority, and we appreciate your patience and understanding that we must proceed with an abundance of caution,” according to a statement on the theatre company’s website.
Ticket holders for the cancelled performances have until Jan. 7 to receive a refund, convert the cost of the tickets to a Goodman credit, or make tax-deductible contribution, they should email BoxOffice@GoodmanTheatre.org. Include your name and customer ID (located on the ticket) along with your preference before Jan. 7.

In an unprecedented offering, ticket holders impacted by the cancellations will receive complimentary access to a high-quality, 5-camera, digital recording of this year’s production of “A Christmas Carol” to watch from home. Instruction on how to access the stream were delivered via email.
Streaming tickets can be purchased for just $25 at GoodmanTheatre.org/Carol, and can be viewed on-demand through January 14 only.

This is the second time a Chicago holiday favorite has been cancelled. The Joffrey Ballet announced it was cancelling remaining performances of "The Nutcracker" after cast members tested positive for COVID-19.
