The Cubs Are Going to the World Series!!!

The 2016 Chicago Cubs break the curse. Game 6 win over Dodgers clinches club's first National League Pennant since 1945.

CHICAGO, IL - The day so many thought they would never live to see. The day that so many sadly did not live to see. That day is today. The Chicago Cubs are going to the World Series.

The Cubs buried 71 years worth of bones and a big 'ole Billy Goat with a dominating 5-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers Saturday night at Wrigley Field.

Wilson Contreras and Anthony Rizzo hit powerful home runs and the only major blunder of the game came from the Dodgers as the Cubs played the role of National League Champion for the first time since 1945.

Memorable Moment: The Cubs were winning from the first inning on. As the game progressed, it became more and more apparent that indeed the Cubs will be going to the World Series. But that moment was the final out. For some, even a possible world championship won't compare to that.

Moment to Forget: Don't forget anything about this. These moments are once-in-a-lifetime.

Wins Needed to Break the Curse: 4

Next Game: Cubs at Indians, 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 25 (Game One of the World Series)

While some fans of the team were tight heading into Game 6 against the Dodgers, the team wasn't. Fans remember the horror stories of 1969, 1984 and 2003. But the players don't.

The players, the Cubs players, were... clutch. That's not something longtime fans are used to hearing, even now.

The historic win Saturday night was extra special for one Cubs fan. The guy with the pink hat who sits right behind home plate for every home game. Saturday was Jim Anixter's 72nd birthday. And surely the most memorable Wrigley Field game he's ever attended.
