Dwyane Wade Signs $47 Million Deal to Play with Chicago Bulls
After 13 years in the NBA, the Robbins native finally lands with his hometown squad.

Chicago, IL - Dwyane Wade is heading to the Chicago Bulls. Sources confirmed with Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical that Wade informed the Bulls he plans to sign a deal with them.
Wade has decided to take his talents from South Beach to the Windy City — and home.
Wade also sent a note Wednesday night to the Associated Press about his time in Miami: “I look back with pride and amazement at all that we accomplished.”

Wojnarowski reported on Twitter Wednesday night that the Bulls are working to complete deals to trade both Jose Calderon and Mike Dunleavy in order to make room under the salary cap to acquire Wade. USA Today reports that Wade and the Bulls struck a two-year, $47.5 million deal, citing a person with direct knowledge of the deal.
The fourth time proved to be the charm. The possibility of Wade wearing a Bulls uniform dates back 13 years.

In 2003, the Bulls looked to be in good position to draft Wade, a Robbins native who played college basketball at Marquette University, but the Miami Heat swooped in and selected him with the No. 5 pick in the NBA Draft that year.
Wade became a free agent in the legendary free agent class of 2010. While hinting that he would come home and sign with the Bulls, Wade instead stayed with the Heat and joined other big name free agents LeBron James and Chris Bosh in forming a “supersquad” in Miami.

Wade again became available in 2014. And again, he discussed coming to Chicago. And again, he stayed with Miami.
Wade grew up in south suburban Robbins and starred on the basketball court at Richards High School in Oak Lawn. The basketball court at Richards is now known as D-Wade Court.
Wade's ties to Chicago run deeper than his hometown and his alma mater. He hosts a yearly sports camp in New Lenox, famously drilling a kid in dodgeball in 2015.
The Bulls' signing of Wade comes just weeks after the team lost another hometown hero, longtime Bulls point guard Derrick Rose. Rose was traded to the New York Knicks on June 22.
