YOU & ME has played at The Second City, Steppenwolf Theatre, The Den Theatre, The Chicago Improv Festival and at Actors Theatre of Louisville, where Artistic Director Les Waters called the show “Hilarious, horrifying, and human. Quite magical, really.” Chicago Reader Recommended! Not recommended at all for youngsters, the easily offended or those who dislike wheelchairs.
Comments Thornton, “I kept hearing from my actor friends how scary improvising was to them and vice-versa with my improv pals regarding acting. This is an unnecessary divide between two great communities in Chicago. Whether theatre is written or improvised on the spot, great scenes are always about people needing each other and listening to each other. For almost five years and thru dozens of guests ranging from Tony Award-winning actors, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwrights, renowned improvisers, beloved actors, and brave strangers who've never improvised before, YOU & ME has playfully re-patched this divide, hopefully refreshing our faith in the joyful power of play and reinforcing the liberating truism that all we ever need to create is You & Me. Did I mention it's funny? And often very irreverent? Cuz it is.”
