Inmate Charged With Murder Mistakenly Released: Sheriff's Office
Authorities are searching for Garrett Glover, 29, who was wrongly set free after officials thought he was eligible for parole.

CHICAGO, IL — Authorities began searching Monday for an inmate charged in a 2012 fatal shooting who was mistakenly released from jail, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office.
In 2015, Garrett Glover, 29, was one of three men charged with murder in the shooting death of a 25-year-old driver on the Dan Ryan Expressway in September of 2012, a sheriff's office statement said Monday. Glover also had been previously charged with attempted armed robbery in a separate 2014 incident, and he was being held in Cook County Jail for the past two years stemming from both cases.
On Thursday, Feb. 23, Glover was sentenced to four years in prison in the attempted armed robbery case. But instead of being returned to jail, where he still needed to be held on $2 million bail from the murder case, he was wrongly released from the Illinois Department of Corrections, the sheriff's office said.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, the Department of Corrections determined Glover was eligible for parole in the attempted armed robbery case when he was taken to Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill. He was mistakenly let go Friday, Feb. 24, despite still needing to be in custody stemming from the 2012 fatal shooting.
The sheriff's office said it was told about the mix up Monday.

"The Sheriff's Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding his release, and all efforts are being made to secure his apprehension," the law enforcement agency said in its statement.
Anyone with information about Glover's whereabouts should contact the Cook County Sheriff's Command Center at 773-674-0169.
