7 Hospitalized After 35-Vehicle Pileup on Kennedy

At least 7 people taken to area hospitals.

CHICAGO, IL -- With a lake effect snow advisory in effect until Tuesday afternoon, traffic was snarled on the inbound Kennedy expressway at North Avenue Monday night outlets reported a massive vehicle pileup after a series of chain-reaction crashes.

At least 35 cars were involved in the crash, which sent seven people to area hospitals, including a 39-year-old man who was in serious condition, NBC Chicago reported. Another 23 people reportedly refused treatment.

CBS Chicago was reporting multiple ambulances and first responders on site just before midnight:

It took until 2 a.m. to clear the vehicles from the scene, according to NBC.
