This special event is designed to help you select the perfect wines to elevate your holiday entertainment. A Culinary Experience to RememberOn December 3, Prairie Grass Cafe's Chefs, Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris, will craft a memorable dining experience featuring a delectable Slow-Braised BBQ Short Ribs dish, accompanied by Yukon Golden Potato Puree and Parmesan Crusted Roasted Carrots.
But that's not all – to complement this extraordinary meal, they’ve curated a flight of three exceptional wines, handpicked by their talented sommelier, Pierre Lasserre who recently joined the teams after years at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Chicago.You will enjoy 3oz pours of Pio Cesare Barbera d’Alba, Italy ’20, Crozes Hermitage, Syrah Blend, E. Guigal, France ’19, and of Clos Du Val, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley ’21.

Make your holiday entertaining effortless by pre-ordering Prairie Grass Cafe’s Christmas Eve Dinner Package for two, available for pickup between 3 PM and 5 PM Saturday, December 23. Prairie Grass Cafe is excited to introduce a holiday treat package, perfect for gifting or enhancing your own holiday celebrations. This delightful package includes Chef Sarah's Mom's holiday cookie recipes, a signature chocolate praline bar from Chicago Artizen by Chef Aaron Lindgren, and more. The holiday treat package will be available for pickup beginning December 15 at just $25.

About Chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris
Chefs Sarah Stegner and George Bumbaris bring their classical training and years of experience both at Prairie Grass Cafe and the Ritz Carlton Hotel of 4-star classical training to serve you, ensuring that every bite of your Thanksgiving meal is a culinary classic. With two James Beard Awards under her belt and a commitment to sustainable, locally sourced ingredients, Stegner has established herself as a leading figure in the culinary world.
Bumbaris, a Bocus D’or competition representative, and Sarah represented the United States in the Pierre Tettinger competition (the only woman out of 540 competitors that year). They have spent years honing our skills to serve you delicious homegrown food.
Stegner was recently named Restaurateur of the Year by the Illinois Restaurant Association. She is a founding member- past president of Green City Market (501c3) and continues to drive education surrounding the organic sustainable food movement into the mainstream, and is a founding member of The Abundance Setting, (501c3) that supports working women & mothers in the culinary industry. Stegner is passionate about local food, creating a better model in the culinary industry & helping others. Stegner is a co-founder of Chicago Chefs Cook which raised more than 1 million dollars since 2022 through culinary events. World Central Kitchen has been the recipient of some of the funds raised through Chicago Chefs Cook. She is now a member of the Chef Corp for WCKITCHEN. When disaster strikes, the Prairie Grass Cafe Team is proud to step-up and help. She also acts as an advisor to Chef Sebastian White of The Evolved Network, which creates a wellness space through food, farming, and cooking for “our kids” that are underprivileged.

Pierre was born and raised in Auch, a small town in the south of France, famous for being the birthplace of the legendary D'Artagnan and Three Musketeers.
Pierre worked as a Matre D’hôtel for 3 Michelin Stars restaurant Michel Guerard in Eugenie Les Bains prior to his move to Chicago in 1989 and joining the opening team at The Four Seasons Hotel.
After a long career with Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton Hotels, Pierre is thrilled to join Prairie Grass Cafe, going back to his lifelong passion for providing great service and amazing food and wine experiences.
