President Trump Headlining Illinois Rally

MURPHYSBORO, IL — President Trump will head to Illinois Saturday where he'll headline an afternoon midterm campaign rally at the Southern Illinois Airport, WLS-TV said. According to the news report, the rally kicks off at 4:30 p.m. at the airport, located at 605 Flightline Road in Murphysboro.

President Trump is campaigning for Republican Congressman Mike Bost, who's running for re-election against Democrat Brendan Kelly.

Bost, who represents the 12th District, recently took heat for a comment he made to the Southern Illinoisan, after the paper asked about his reluctance to heed his constituents' calls to host a town hall meeting.

Saying his time at home in Southern Illinois is "minimal," Bost reportedly told the paper, "You know the cleansing that the Orientals used to do where you'd put one person out in front and 900 people yell at them? That's not what we need. We need to have meetings with people that are productive."

Bost later said he regretted his "poor choice of words" but doubled down on his stance on town hall meetings.
