Sense of Place explores the intersection of location and identity at Elmhurst Art Museum
Elmhurst Art Museum Sense of Place art exhibit

For its 20th anniversary, Elmhurst Art Museum is currently hosting its first open-call exhibition.
The exhibition explores the meaning that particular places hold for individuals, whether it is their hometowns or other locations that have “a strong identity and character that is deeply felt by local inhabitants and visitors,” according to the museum.
The 35 works in the exhibition were created by Chicago and international artists. While some feature local places and people, others are more global, but all the works explore the various definitions of place and how
those definitions impact an individual.

There are a variety of mediums on display with something for everyone to enjoy. It’s an interesting and thought-provoking exhibition that provides a solid foundation for discussion about how places impact not only our self-identities but also our perceptions of how we fit in the world.
Sense of Place will continue through February 12, 2017. For hours, go to the museum’s website https://www.elmhurstartmuseum.org/.
