WATCH: Video Shows Springfield Cop Beating Teen After Taunting
An officer faces charges of battery and official misconduct after a video shows him punching a 19-year-old a dozen times.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — Police released footage from body cameras Monday appearing to show an officer repeatedly punching a teenager after challenging him to a fight.
True to his word, officer Samuel A. Rosario, 32, did not arrest the 19-year-old after the Feb. 27 fight, which began when he was called to a domestic disturbance on the 2100 block of East Stuart Street.
Instead, Rosario ended up himself arrested the next morning, charged with two counts of battery and one count of official misconduct. He remains on unpaid administrative leave as an internal investigation continues, Springfield police said.

The video released this week, which police said "does not depict the actions of the hard-working men and women of the Springfield Police Department," shows Rosario first push the 19-year-old after he calls him a "rookie" (3:40), then become increasingly agitated when the young man asks for his badge number (5:30).
The policeman and teen then exchange a series of escalating insults and challenges.

"My camera's been on. You're scared," Rosario says as he attempts to instigate a physical confrontation. "I'm not even gonna tase you, I'm not even gonna Mace you," he taunts. "You want these hands, you can have them. I'm not even gonna arrest you, son."
The video shifts to the perspective of a backup officer (10:30) as the image from Rosario's body camera is obscured when he throws the unidentified teenager to the ground and begins beating him.
"You ain't about that life, kid," Rosario says after the beating.
