CHICAGO, IL — A fellow Cook County Jail inmate attacked and punched the man charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Takiya Holmes, 11, over the weekend while the two were at a courthouse for hearings, according to Fox 32 News.
Antwan C. Jones, 19, was handcuffed to a chair in the Leighton Criminal Courthouse on Wednesday before his bail hearing on a first-degree murder charge stemming from Takiya's death, the report stated. He is accused of firing the stray bullet Saturday that hit the young girl in the head while she was sitting in a parked van with her mother and 3-year-old brother.
While Jones slouches in his chair and waits, Renard Williams, a 24-year-old man at the courthouse for a hearing on murder charges from a shooting from June 2016, takes a running start and delivers a blow to his head, Fox 32 reports. Security camera footage captured Williams continuing to pummel Jones until a courthouse employee pulls him away.
