3 Armored Vehicles Robbed Across South Suburbs, Chicago: Authorities

The incidents occurred in Calumet City, Lansing and Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood, according to reports.

CHICAGO, IL — Three armored vehicles were robbed Wednesday in Chicago and across the south suburbs, according to police and media reports.

The first incident happened about 9:35 a.m. outside Pete’s Fresh Market in the 1900 block of Sibley Boulevard in Calumet City, according to WLS, which reported a Brinks truck was robbed and the suspects fled west.

Around noon, police in Lansing responded to Gordon Food Service in the 2300 block of 173rd Street, where several armed people stole cash from a Loomis Armored Car employee in the parking lot and fled the scene, according to Lansing authorities.

About 1:20 p.m., two people approached a man unloading a truck in the 500 block of West 31st Street in Chicago’s Bridgeport neighborhood, according to police, who said the offenders showed guns and demanded the vehicle before fleeing. They were taken into custody shortly afterward, police said. The incident involved a Brinks truck outside a currency exchange, WLS reported.
