Crete Public Library Partners with Northern Illinois Food Bank

The Crete Public Library is pleased to announce their continuing partnership with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to offer monthly assistance with the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The SNAP Help program addresses questions concerning the application process and assists clients with navigating any issues they may encounter with their benefits.

On the first Wednesday of every month, from 1 to 4 p.m., individuals can take advantage of this drop-in service at the Crete Public Library, located at 1177 N. Main St. A SNAP Coordinator will be on-site to guide clients with SNAP, also known as Food Stamps or Link Card. This assistance is offered on a first come, first served basis.

For those unable to attend the monthly sessions, help is available by calling the Northern Illinois Food Bank’s toll-free number 844-600-SNAP (7627). This hotline provides support in English and Spanish.

Sarah Wegley, who coordinates the program at Crete Public Library, expressed enthusiasm about this ongoing collaboration. "We are excited to partner with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to offer this vital service. Together, we are working to ensure that no eligible member of the community goes without the nutritional support they need.“
