PARK FOREST--October 19, 2023--Fifth grader Toni Rogers had a very special ride to Indiana School in Park Forest this morning.

Rogers, the first place winner of the Park Forest Fire Department Fire Prevention Week Poster contest, was escorted to school by two fire trucks and an ambulance. Rogers artwork earned first place out of more than 150 entrants, said Fire Chief Tracy Natyshok, who rode on the fire truck with Rogers to school.

With sirens blaring and lights flashing, Rogers was greeted by her teacher, Mrs. Ellen Stidham, her class and the school's principal, Mrs. Tracye Hutsona and assistant principal Christina King.

Fire prevention safety week was Sunday, October 8- Saturday, October 14. The theme of the contest was "Cooking safety starts with you" and children from ages 7-12 who live in or attend school in Park Forest could submit their drawings.

Rogers also won a bicycle and the fire department brought breakfast to her house before giving her a ride to school.
