Child Porn, Sex Assault Charges Filed In Barricade Situation

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 24-year-old McHenry man is in custody following a barricade situation in Crystal Lake Friday afternoon, authorities said. The Crystal Lake Police Department was called to the 500 block of Darlington Lane at about 4:30 p.m. for a report of a burglary.

When they arrived at the scene they found a man who immediately barricaded himself inside the bathroom of the home and began threatening an officer with a knife, according to a news release from the Crystal lake Police Department.

Officers set up a perimeter around the home and continued to talk with the armed subject in an
attempt to de-escalate the situation, according to a news release. Additional police units were called to the scene to assist with the incident and Matthew R. Reder was taken into custody on two active arrest warrants.

Reder is being held at the McHenry County Jail on a $52,000 bail. He faces charges of child pornography, predatory criminal sexual assault, possession of a controlled substance, aggravated assault and criminal damage to property, according to online jail records.

Authorities believe the incident was isolated and related to a domestic situation. No one was injured in the incident.
