2 Area Hospitals Ranked Among the Best in the State: U.S. News & World Report

​Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry and Advocate Sherman Hospital have received high ranks in the recently released list.

Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry and Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin have been ranked among the best Illinois hospitals in the 2016-2017 U.S. News and World Report list released Tuesday, which measures the best hospitals in the country. Advocate Sherman in Elgin ranked No. 12 in the state while Centegra’s hospital in McHenry ranked No. 16 in Illinois.

Meanwhile, Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 8 on the national list while Mayo Clinic in Minnesota ranked No. 1 in the United States.

The annual list, now in its 27th year, considers how each hospital performs across different specialties, procedures and conditions.

Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin was rated high-performing in two adult specialities: diabetes and endocrinology and orthopedics. Centegra Medical Center received top marks for orthopedics and pulmonology.

Other top-ranking hospitals in the area included: Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge (No. 6), Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village (No. 12) and St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates (No. 16).
