2 Businesses Cited For Selling Tobacco To Minors
The Crystal Lake Police Department handed out citations to the 7-Eleven and Mobil gas stations during recent compliance checks.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — The Crystal Lake Police Department cited two businesses for selling tobacco to minors following compliance checks in May. Working in conjunction with the police department, authorities sent people under the age of 21 into 34 businesses across the city where they attempted to buy tobacco products, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.
The following businesses were cited for selling tobacco to minors: 7-Eleven, 1024 S. McHenry Avenue, and the Mobil Gas Station, 451 W. Virginia Street.
The Crystal Lake Police Department cited a clerk and employee who sold the tobacco products to the minor. An adjudication hearing is set for 8:30 a.m. on April 10 at the Crystal Lake Municipal Center, 100 West Woodstock Street.

The Crystal Lake Police Department strives to develop partnerships with local merchants to help
them achieve the goal of zero tobacco sales to minors, according to a news release. The Crystal Lake Police Department conducts these Tobacco Countermeasure Enforcement checks randomly throughout the year and we will continue to do so in the future.
