Alcohol a Suspected Factor in Crash That Killed 2 Crystal Lake Men: Police
The crash happened on Walkup Road north of Hillside Road near Crystal Lake.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a two-vehicle crash that has claimed the lives of two Crystal Lake men.
The crash occurred Saturday night when a 2016 Toyota Tacoma, which was driven by a 28-year-old Crystal Lake man, and a 2010 Buick LaCrosse, driven by a 68-year-old Crystal Lake man, collided in the southbound lane of Walkup Road just north of Hillside Road in unincorporated Nunda Township, according to a McHenry County Sheriff’s Office news release.
The older man was pronounced dead at the scene. The younger man was first taken to Centegra Hospital in McHenry and then flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. He was pronounced dead on Sunday, according to authorities.

On Wednesday, the McHenry County Coroner's Office identified the older man as Lawrence T. Madigan, 68. An autopsy performed Monday revealed that he died from blunt force injuries to the chest and head.
The 28-year-old man was being investigated for DUI prior to succumbing to his injuries, according to the press release.

The identification of the two men has not yet been released.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigations Unit, the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
