4 Injured – 2 Critically – In Route 176 Crash

Charges are pending in the crash that involved a truck that crossed the centerline, crashing head on with two other vehicles.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL – Four people were injured – two critically – in a three-vehicle crash on Route 176 in Woodstock Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. The crash occurred at 3:36 p.m. when a Chevrolet truck heading east on Route 176 near Dean Street crossed into the westbound lane of traffic and hit a Honda Civic and then a Lexus head on. The driver of the 1995 Lexus, a 59-year-old Marengo woman, and a passenger in her car, a 37-year-old Marengo woman, were initially taken to Centegra Medical Center in Huntley.

The older woman was then transported to Condell Medical Center in Libertyville and the younger woman was taken to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. The driver of the 2000 Chevrolet, a 17-year-old Hampshire boy, and a passenger in the vehicle, a 25-year-old Elgin man, were taken to Centegra Medical Center in Huntley and were listed in good condition.

The two Marengo women were listed in critical condition, according to authorities.

The driver of the 2008 Honda, a 47 year-old Harvard woman, was treated and released from the scene.

The three vehicle crash closed Route 176 between Sunnyside and Dean in unincorporated Dorr Township for almost four hours.

Those driving and riding as passengers in the Honda and Lexus were wearing seatbelts. It is unknown if the occupants of the Chevrolet truck were wearing their seatbelts, police said. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash and charges are pending.

The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash.
