The man is accused of hitting and strangling a woman early Tuesday in Algonquin.
ALGONQUIN, IL — A 40-year-old Algonquin man faces an attempted murder charge for hitting and strangling a woman during a domestic disturbance in the 1600 block of Southridge Trail at about 3 a.m. on Tuesday. Authorities say Alvin W. Thompson, of the 1600 block of Southridge Trail, was armed with a gun during the incident.
The woman suffered injuries that are not considered life-threatening, and Thompson fled the scene before police arrived, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department.
The U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Apprehension Task Force assisted the Algonquin Police Department in tracking down Thompson, who was arrested on Wednesday, according to authorities.
Thompson has been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated domestic battery-strangulation, unlawful use of weapons by a felon, possession of ammunition without a FOID and two counts of domestic battery.
