Algonquin Police Blotter: Battery, Weapons Charges

The Algonquin Police Department also responded to reports of retail theft, speeding and resisting an officer.

Editor's note: One person's name was removed from this report because his or her charges were reduced to a petty offense.

ALGONQUIN, IL — The Algonquin Police Department responded to the following reports in recent weeks:

  • Rey O. Arce-Perez, of Hanover Park, was arrested at 3:40 p.m. on June 3 and charged with no valid driver's license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. He was released from 2200 Harnish Drive with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
  • Calvin D. Hoff, of the 1600 block of Hartley Drive in Algonquin, was arrested at about 11:30 a.m. on June 6 and charged with violation of an order of protection. Hoff was taken into custody at 2200 Harnish Drive and then transported to the McHenry County Jail.
  • Phillip C. Brown, of the 300 block of Bayberry Drive in Algonquin, was arrested at County Line Road and Sleepy Hollow Road at 10:15 p.m. on June 8 and charged with possession of firearm without a valid FOID card. He was released with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
  • [Redacted], of Persimmon Drive in Algonquin, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. on June 9 and charged with battery. He was taken into custody at his home and released with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
  • Jose A. Monarrez, of the 700 block of Logan Avenue in McHenry, was arrested at 20 W. Algonquin Road just before 7 a.m. on June 11 and charged with no valid driver's license and speeding. He was released with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
  • Sophia L. Cardona, of the 1000 block of Perry Drive in Algonquin, was arrested at 5:16 p.m. on June 11 at 1410 S. Randall Road and charged with resisting an officer, six counts of retail theft and on a warrant out of Kane County. She was then taken to the McHenry County Jail.
  • Gerarda M. Mendoza, of the 600 block of Chelsea Drive in Algonquin, was arrested at Algonquin Road and Route 31 at 4 p.m. on June 12. Mendoza was charged with no valid driver's license and failure to yield turning left. She was released with a notice to appear in McHenry County.
  • Jose A. Tostado-Luna, of the 300 block of Timber Creek Drive, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. on June 14 and charged with retail theft. He was taken into custody at 1410 S. Randall Road and then transported to the McHenry County Jail.
