All Lanes on Route 14 to Reopen This Week Following Construction Work

All lanes of traffic on the busy roadway between Crystal Lake and Woodstock will reopen the week of Oct. 24.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday that all lanes on Route 14 between Lake Avenue and Crystal Lake Avenue in Woodstock and Crystal Lake will open back up to traffic the week of Monday, Oct. 24.

The overall improvements to U.S. 14 between Lake Avenue and Crystal Lake Avenue include a newly-reconstructed highway, widened from two lanes to four lanes, with a landscaped median, according to the news release. The project included the installation of new traffic signals at eight intersections along U.S. 14, as well as new storm sewers, street lighting and a multi-use path that stretches from Lake Avenue to McHenry County College.

Intermittent, daily lane closures still will be necessary this fall and next spring to complete landscaping and other planting. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits and be on the alert for workers and equipment, according to a news release.
