• McHenry County Early Voting Starts Thursday: See Locations, Hours (patch.com) — McHenry County voters, including those in Crystal Lake, can begin early voting Sept. 24 at the Election Center in Woodstock, with Crystal Lake's Algonquin Township Garage and Crystal Lake Public Library opening as additional sites Oct. 19. Hours expand in late October, and a 24/7 ballot drop box in Woodstock plus in-room drop boxes at several locations give residents flexible options for casting ballots before Nov. 3.
   

• 1 Killed In Crystal Lake-Area Crash (patch.com) — A 23-year-old Woodstock man died early Sunday when his pickup left Butternut Drive in unincorporated Crystal Lake, crossed Chestnut Drive, and struck several trees, according to McHenry County authorities. Investigators say speed, weather, and alcohol may have contributed, and the sheriff's major crash unit and coroner's office are continuing to investigate.
   

• Katelyn Hallum's pick-6 clinches unbeaten Crystal Lake Central's FVC victory over Dundee-Crown (shawlocal.com) — Crystal Lake Central's girls flag football team stayed unbeaten at 11-0 after senior safety Katelyn Hallum's late pick-six sealed a 25-12 Fox Valley Conference win over Dundee-Crown at Crystal Lake Central High School. The Tigers intercepted four passes, honored their seniors, and moved within one victory of their first FVC flag football title.
