Attempted Forced Entry Into Apartment Ends In Drug Arrest
Police initially responded for a report of a man trying to force his way in. They ended up arresting a different resident on drug charges.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL – Authorities initially responded to a home Monday night for a report of an unwanted man attempting to force his way into the residence but ended up arresting a different man for possessing a large amount of marijuana, according to authorities. Crystal Lake Police Department officers were initially called to 26 East Crystal Lake Avenue, Apartment A, at about 8:40 p.m. There they found a 52-year-old woman who lived at the residence and her 34-year-old friend inside.
The women were not harmed and told police that the offender, who the older woman knew, failed to get into the apartment, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department. And he fled before police could arrive.
Police determined the incident was domestic and developed a suspect in the case, according to authorities. Police had not arrested that suspect as of Wednesday morning and could not release anymore information about him, or his relationship with the 52-year-old woman, until he is taken into custody, Crystal Lake Police Deputy Chief Derek Hyrkas told Patch.

While at the home, officers discovered evidence that illegal narcotics may be in the home, according to authorities. A search warrant was obtained and police found another man, David P. Ready, 53, hiding in a locked bedroom, according to the news release.
He was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court for driving offenses in Kane County, according to police. Police also found more than 500 grams of marijuana in Ready's bedroom and several cannabis sativa plants in production stages.

Ready remained in custody at the McHenry County Jail Wednesday morning. An investigation continues and more charges and arrests are pending, police said.
