Authorities Identify Man Killed in 3-Vehicle Port Barrington Crash

The crash occurred Friday morning.

PORT BARRINGTON, IL - Authorities have identified the man killed in a Friday morning crash in Port Barrington as Eric Norton, 64, of the 600 block of Clover Road in Wauconda.

A preliminary investigation revealed the crash occurred when a Peterbilt roll-of style dump truck was traveling west on Darrell Road at about 11:15 a.m. and collided with a 2009 Jeep Liberty that was traveling south on Roberts Road, according to a Lake County Sheriff's Office press release. The front of the Peterbilt struck the driver's side of the Jeep, which was driven by Norton.

A third vehicle, a 2013 Buick Lacrosse, was traveling west on Darrell Road and was struck after the collision between the Jeep and the dump truck, police said. The driver of the dump truck and Buick were not injured, police said.

Norton was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Unit. Crash investigators are working to determine the color of the traffic lights at the time of the crash, according to the news release.
