Bicyclist Hit By Car In Crystal Lake, Flown To Hospital: Police

The vehicle hit the bicyclist at Main Street and Walkup Avenue in Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A bicyclist sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening after being hit by a car on Main Street in Crystal Lake Wednesday afternoon.

The incident happened at about 1:10 p.m. Wednesday when a vehicle headed north on Main Street hit the bicyclist, which had been headed east on Walkup Avenue at Main Street, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

The bicyclist was flown by helicopter to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The driver, a 26-year-old from Wauconda, was not injured and was cited for failure to reduce speed. A portion of Main Street was closed for about two hours while emergency crews work on the scene.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.
