Bodies of Woman, Dog Found Along Shoreline of Lake in Fox Lake

The bodies were pulled from Nippersink Lake Saturday afternoon.

FOX LAKE, IL - Authorities are investigating the deaths of a local woman and a dog whose bodies were found near each other Saturday afternoon near the shoreline of Nippersink Lake in Fox Lake.

Police were called to the lake in north suburban Fox Lake at about 2:45 p.m. and divers went into the lake to retrieve the bodies, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The woman has been as identified as 57-year-old Mary Anton of Fox Lake, reports ABC7. Anton's son had reported her missing on Friday evening after he went to check on her and did not find her home.

Anton's purse and phone were inside her home when she went missing, according to ABC7.

Police are saying the incident is an isolated one and there is no threat to the community, the Daily Herald reports.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
