C-G Wrestling Loses in Fox Valley Conference Play
Trojans get three pins but not enough in 39-24 loss to Johnsburg

It was an up and down night Friday for Cary-Grove's wrestling team in Fox Valley Conference action at Johnsburg.
The Trojans fell into an early hole and couldn't recover in falling 39-24 to the Skyhawks. Johnsburg jumped out quickly, winning the first three matches of the night to take a 12-0 lead.
Cary then rallied for four straight match wins as James Smrt won a 4-3 decision over Bobby McKay at 125 pounds to start the rally.

Trent Atkins would proceed by pin at 130 pounds in 4:46 before Garrett Glueck won his 135 pound match by pin as well at 4:48. Matt Fina completed the Cary run with a 5-3 decision over Josh Jewell at 140 pounds to give Cary a 18-12 lead.
At that point, things began to go downhill for Cary as after a pin by the Skyhawks at 145 pounds, Cary forfeited the next two matches to fall behind 30-18.

Colin Hansen got Cary closer at 171 pounds with a pin of Christian Nugent at 1:39 but it wasn't enough as Johnsburg would win the final three matches by decision for the final score.
The loss drops Cary to 1-2 overall on the season in dual meets and 1-1 in the FVC. The team will travel to Sycamore Saturday to participate in the Sycamore Quadrangular.
