Candidates Sought for Vacant McHenry Co. Board Seat

The chosen candidate will take the place of county board member Michael Walkup, who resigned in December.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL -- McHenry County is seeking candidates to apply to succeed County board member Michael Walkup, who resigned from office effective Dec. 1, 2018. Candidates must be age 18 or older, registered to vote in McHenry County, a republican, and must live in County Board District 3, which covers all of Nunda Township, McHenry Township precincts 2, 9, 20, 22, 25, 28 and 30, and Algonquin Township precincts 21, 29, 49, 50 and 67. The appointee will serve through the expiration of the term, which is on Dec. 1, 2020, according to a news release.

As a member on the county board, the candidate should be prepared to assist in establishing the budgets of county government and dependent agencies, and adopting ordinances and rules pertaining to the management and business of county departments.

To apply, candidates should email a resume and cover letter detailing their interest to Diane Evertsen by Friday, Jan. 18, 2019. Applicants will be required to complete under oath, a Statement of Economic Interests and Conflict of Interest form.
