Candlelight Ski/Hike Held This Weekend In Crystal Lake

If there is enough snow, cross-country skiing will take place at Prairieview Education Center.

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — The McHenry County Conservation District will host a candlelit night ski/hike this Friday and Saturday at Prairieview Education Center, 2112 Behan Road in Crystal Lake.

If there is at least four inches of snow, cross-country skiing will take place. If there is less snow, then the event will be held as a candlelit hike, according to a news release from the MCCD.

The event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. on both nights, and residents can drop in at anytime with their own skis or walk the candlelit trail. There will be a campfire and complimentary cookies and hot cocoa.

Pets are not allowed and donations are welcome. In the event of inclement weather, check the front page of MCCDistrict.org for latest trail conditions.

Additional candlelit skis/hikes will be held on Jan. 14 at Harrison Benwell in Wonder Lake and on Feb. 11 and 12 at Marengo Ridge. In addition, you can ski/hike every night until 9 p.m. thru March 13 on solar lit trails at Pleasant Valley Conservation Area in Woodstock and at Hickory Grove Highlands in Cary.
