CARY, IL — A 24-year-old Cary man wanted on possession of child pornography charges was taken into custody Thursday, police said. Following a nearly year-long investigation, the Cary Police Department recently issued an arrest warrant for Sean M. Keady, of the 400 block of Redwood Drive in Cary.

Local authorities launched an investigation in March 2019 after Cary detectives received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force regarding an online social media account. Authorities believed the account was being used to share photos that contained child porn, according to a news release from the Cary Police Department.

Over the next 11 months, local police executed search warrants and seized and analyzed electronic devices used to store and transmit child pornography. The FBI’s Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory conducted a search of the seized electronic devices, which uncovered numerous photos containing child pornography, according to the news release.
